Can anybody advise how to open the hood on a 1997 Chevy S10 pickup with 4.3L ? Nothing happens when I pull the interior hood latch (lever is broken?).
This happened on my explorer. The wire ended up stretched after time. If you can reach down at the hood latch inside your car and feel the cable loose use a rag or a glove and try to pull the wire. If not your latch might be jammed. There might be ways to release this through your front grill with a long flat blade screwdriver to pop it open. I know this can be done on some Fords, but not sure about your Chevy. If your latch is seized up I usually just soak some WD-40 on it. Best of luck.
Winston is right... WD40 is your friend. Same thing happened with my dads 1999 S10. It took a pair of vise grips, many sprays of WD40, and a lot of tugging on the cable, but it eventually popped. Then we lubricated the cable at both ends, and it’s been fine since.
