Hello sir, I've been a longtime viewer and scholar of your channel. I have an astronomical issue that 5 mechanics have not solved. I have a 2001 nissan maxima 3.0 20th anniversary. When I start it, when it eventually starts, I have a high retard and advanced idle, sometimes ranging from 1,800 rpm to 2,500 rpm. It sounds like a young kid revving at a stop light. The problem is so horrible that it can start after a 3 second crank or a 12 second crank. It has soon graduated to horrible shift points and even dieing in the middle of intersections. I have replaced the idle air control valve, throttle position sensor, and even the entire fuel injection system from tank to piston. In the past I have replaced the coils and spark plugs due to trouble codes. I have owned the vehicle since 2010 when it had 40,000 miles and now has 130,000+ miles. What in the world could you guess it to be. My phone number is [personal info redacted].
I appreciate your time and response.
Bill

Well vacuum leaks often cause high idle but that high generally you've got some kind of problem and in the fuel injection system. Either. The throttle is somehow getting ripped open or fuel is being metered at the wrong amount. Now I'm headed back to Clarksville, Tennessee. If you're anywhere near there we can set up a time. I could check it out personally. It sounds like an interesting problem. But I'd bet it's something to do with the throttle. That's about the only thing that's really going to make it go. They had high like that. You said things are replaced. I have no idea what anybody actually did and if they use junkyard parts or new parts
