1993 Buick Regal Custom
Recently my car died going about 40 , so I assumed it was the alternator. However, the alternator tested fine . My car was recently almost stolen , the the ignition switch has been drilled out. The car has also had some electrical issues since I bought it , that clearly the previous owners had looked at , but lied about. My starter is brand new as well ... I'm a single mom and I just need the car to start so I can get to work . I don't care how trashy it has to look . Previously I've been starting it with a screwdriver. Please help .
If the would-be thief attacked the lock cylinder that's not where the ignition switch is located. (The actual switch is mounted on the steering column and operated by a pushrod.) In that case what you need is to replace the lock cylinder.
In the illustration below the lock cylinder is part #20. The ignition switch is pointed out as #36.

Get a new ignition switch, about $43 at Advance Auto Parts and everywhere.
