Hey Scotty so I have a 2006 Scion tC with 155k miles and when I bought it, it was missing 3qts of trans oil with the trans slipping, now what can I do to have it fix it from slipping ?? P.S. it only jerks when I shift it into Drive the rest is okay but still... 😢
@el-padrino
Is it doing the same thing after adding the correct amount of fluid?
Last resort is adding an transmission additive, like lucas. If then, time for a replacement.
@el-padrino
do not add any additive. do you mean youre burning 3quarts??? thats too much. regular maintenance is needed to keep safe driving conditions
No when I took it to it’s first oil change I asked for the mechanic to check the trans oil and then he came out told me it was missing about 3 quarts of trans oil so then he topped it off from there when I shift it into Drive the jerk was a soft but before the jerk was bad but then later after having the radiator fluid flushed its not jerking as bad from that it’s now a light jerk but it happens when I shift into Drive but I’m totally getting the trans oil with the filter replaced on my next pay
Try Lucas additive from Scotty video
@nick20s
welcome back. Haven't seen you in a while. 🙂
@mountainmanjoe
Thank you 🙂. Got sucked into a project at work and had to attempt some internet fasting.
@nick20s
it's good to do that once in a while
No worries budd good news for you even tho you changed or added the oil the residue from burn clutches and all that is still inside ive seen this a million times on toyota all u have to do is drop the pan and replace the filter the reason it does that is because it struggles to get the right amount of oil pressure in the drums so just replace the oil and filter and you will notice a change after driving it for 10 minuts then a week later drain the oil and add new oil again and then do it one more time the week after and the system should be clean
@ignatiosgr
How sure are you???
@ignatiosgr
I’m willing to take on your advice but from what Scotty said and others that changing trans fluid is a 50/50 risk
Just abandon the vehicle! Slipping trans is like a ticking time bomb. I have a Pontiac g5 that revs like crazy trying to get into gear. It's a pain the ass. Has lasted me for about a year though surprisingly I must have gotten a special g5. Anyways best of luck to you !
@godfather
G5 are pieces of crap your transmission got to the point that the clutches must be more gone than just gone its mostly a cut piston inside of a drum so yea its a bye bye for that one
How long till she blows? It drives but I have to accelerate really slowly or else the RPM will shoot up until I release the accelerator and accelerate slowly to reach my next gear.
rebuild it or replace it
