How can I tell if my CV Joint or Transmission is bad?

I'm the original owner of a 2008 Chevy HHR have done all recalls and maintenance to it on time. The other day I went to drive in it and when I shifted in to reverse (Automatic Transmission) it labored to rolled wven as I accelerated. Is this my CV Joint or my Transmission that's going out?

Thank you.

A bad CV joint will cause clicking while turning and there will also be leaking grease from CV axle joint boots.

A bad transmission will slip when engine revs, causes clunking sounds and shifts will be delayed.

Not CV axles. Miles? When was the ATF changed?
