Why does my odometer reset to 0 every 1000 miles?

How do I stop the odometer from resetting to 0 after a new engine from GMC was installed. resets every 1000 miles. I did no reprogramming. Is that the issue?

I installed a brand new 3.0L 54 degree V6 in my 2003 Saturn Vue. The odometer reset to 0 miles on first start. I since put 1352 miles on it, and the odometer reset again to 0 at exactly 1000 miles. Did I need to remove something from the engine prior to install? or did I need to reprogram the ECM to this engine? This is a Brand new engine from GMC, not a reman or rebuilt. WAS FULLY DRESSED FOR A 2002 Ion. Crappy experimental engine, but what can you do? wanted to convert to a 3.8L supercharged, but went to factory original.

sounds like your odometer is set on "Trip". You should be able to toggle between "Trip" and "Vehicle Miles" by pushing the button.

Should work something like: Push the button to toggle between the 2 modes. Hold the button in for a few seconds to reset "Trip" miles
