How long to keep a Sprinter RV

Topic starter

I’m planning to get a new Sprinter based RV with the V6 Diesel engine next year.  I want to live in the RV full time for a few years. I don’t plan to tow a car so it will be my only vehicle. How long or how many miles do you think this will be a reliable vehicle? I would prefer to trade it in before it becomes an endless money pit.

The Sprinter is probably one of the most reliable Mercedes vehicles made. Assuming you are talking some sort of an RV conversion, you are going to be much more likely to experience problems related to the conversion than you will with the engine.

I will add that a Sprinter based RV is ideally in my future plans as well 🙂

Great to hear. Thanks for the feedback

Generally diesel engines last a long time.and Mercedes makes pretty good diesel engine so I'd assume you get at least a couple hundred thousand miles on it if you maintain it basically

Thanks for the information.. I was hoping you weren’t going to say they break down all the time like the cars.

Oh yea, I forgot to say Welcome to Tennessee. My wife and I moved from NJ to Knoxville 5 years ago. We love it here.

Family member owns one. Hasn't been reliable. Starting breaking down immediately after buying new, leaving them stranded. Service is crazy expensive. Parts are crazy expensive and long waits to get them. And the vehicle itself is expensive.

For your reference:  looks like 2015/2016 were the worst years.
