How long will it last?

Hey Scotty!

Given the price point of the Ford Maverick and it being made in Mexico what is the life expectancy of the 2.0 ecoboost engine? Is this a 100k and done truck or how long will it last? Should I just stick with a Corolla or Camry as I commuter car with extra space and save my hard earned cash?

Thank you!

Given Ford's reputation for Ecoboost engine problems I would not expect longevity out of them.

You never know how long a car will last if you drive it nicely and maintain it religiously.  I like to point out how my mom got 250K miles out of not 1 but 2 Chevy Cavaliers.

But having said that, no, I would not expect a lot of longevity out of it.  100k is about right.  You don't move production of a compact pickup to Mexico because you are trying to maximize quality (western boots? yes.  compact trucks? no.)  You do it to cut corners.

Thanks my question is why does Scotty recommend the ecoboost if the engines don’t last as long?

Did you watch the video? I didn't hear any recommendations. I heard him say "nobody knows what will happen" right in the middle of the video. And then "only time will tell if they hold up. It could fall apart" at the end. It's a new vehicle. Everything is new on it. How is anybody supposed to know if they last a long time?
