2002-2012? There is a world of difference and so many factors. It should be on a case by case basis but in general the 1998-2002 generation (which I wouldn't recommend) is worth around $2500 but are almost always overpriced. The 2003-2008 generation is a better value and is generally around $3000-5000 depending on miles and condition. 2009-2010 models go for around $5-6k, while the refreshed 2011-2013 should be less than $6500-7000 though they tend to also be overpriced up to $8000-9000, which is the general value for a 2014-2016 with around 100k miles.

Keep in mind there are years to avoid if you would like to learn about those just comment there is more to car buying than just the price.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Which years should I avoid I will take any advice you have thank you! It will be my first car so I will be happy to listen. I live in jackson michigan so I was just asking about the price of them because everything seemed overpriced.

I have made a progressive page on the forum just for this, check it out and scroll down to Toyota Corolla and view the comments:

Off the top of my head, 1998-2002 should be avoided because of the oil burning problems. The same excessive oil consumption is also seen in 2009. Avoid the 2003-2008 generation with the manual transmission, the automatics are fine.

2011-2013 is a good year range for reliability. For a lesser budget, I would stick to the 2003-2008 automatics.

As always, make sure to have a pre-purchase inspection done before buying any car.

Good luck, the Corolla is definitely a good first car.
A site I like to use to help see if you should buy a vehicle is carcomplaints.com , check it out!

what is your opinion on a camry vs a corolla would it be wise to look at camrys as well?

I wouldn't look at a Camry after 2007 the quality dropped and there were oil burning issues transmission issues etc. so if you can find a nice one 2003-2006 it could be wise to look at them as well.

What year are your looking for? What is the mileage and condition of the car? Once you have this you can decide if the deal is good or not. A vehicle is only worth what someone will pay, and various markets will have various amounts for the same condition vehicle.
