On most sites says every oil change so like 5000 miles. Will it harm anything if I do it sooner like once a month because I believe my fuel injectors, pistons, and valves and fairly carboned up since its a 2010 accord.
Also I was lucky and found BG fuel injector cleaner here in canada but was pretty expensive off facebook marketplace sealed in plastic ofc.
After I use that what would you recommend using other than the Gumout PEA one scotty talks about?
Car still getting 17mpg in town... when its rated for 21.
(kn filter box, ngk plugs, all oem fluids, mobil oil every 5k, new summer tires, etc so no reason for this to happen)
did some googling says honda engine dont like ethanol, is that accurate?
I use to only fill up at shell and esso but they kept making my car run poorer. i switched to petro canada was alot better.
I live in canada and gas here is like 4$ usd a gallon..
You really don't need to use cleaner and all cars can run on the 10% ethanol they put in gasoline it's just an additive to increase octane and then of course they had additives to the alcohol doesn't damage anything the engineers know what they're doing
Ok but how often can i use the injector cleaner can i do it more often or will it damage anything? Thx
Why is my 2010 accord getting extremely bad mpg when all tune up was done?
changing oil won't help with carbon buildup
why is it getting such bad mpg?
Mpg will go down as a car ages, that's just wear and tear. Unless you are using a computer to actually see the "mpg" you won't know for sure what it really stands at. As moutainman and scotty have mentioned, more frequent oil changes won't help. And modern day gas is good oppose to the before. If you really want to clean the carbon build up, the next time your car is low on gas throw in a can of seafoam before fill it. It will smoke out a whole bunch of it if you do got a decent buildup.
How is your driving style?
very calm
You are likely just seeing the effects of an aging vehicle. It is not going to continue to get the MPG it used to because of wear and tear.
I wouldn't put any additives in it as Shell gas already has plenty in it to keep things as clean as they are going to get. If you've done a tune up on it already, then it is what it is. Realize you're talking about a 12 year old car.
shell and esso gas both made my car run poorly here in canada.
i put petro canada and ran so much better.
i recently put bg 44k in an empty tank then filled, im gonna see if it does anything. it also came with BG mass air flow cleaner that im going to put it at my next oil change
