Hello everyone,
I was thinking about getting a diesel VW and I've heard a lot of good things about the old 1.9L TDI engine and how reliable it was. But I don't know what's the reputation for the newer 2L TDI. Is it just as reliable as the old 1.9 or does it cause a lot of problems?

Volkswagen makes excellent diesel engines it's just all the plastic and electronic crap that breaks on them when they age
I see. Do the DSG transmissions that go with many of the modern diesels have problems or are they reliable with the manufacturer's maintenance intervals?

Run away from DSG transmissions.
