2014 Ford Escape, 50,397 miles, automatic, ODB codes: P0741, P1744, P0218.

Hi Scotty! The above 2014 Ford Escape runs well. No shudder, no trouble shifting gears, easily shifts intro reverse, no hesitation when accelerating, no problems apparently at all. However, when I am accelerating usually above 50 mph I sometimes get a Transmission Fault Error: Service Now warning. I can dismiss the error and drive normally. I can drive the car all day at lower speeds and receive no warning and no issues with operation.

I took the car to the Ford Dealer and they told me TSB 14-0125 addressed the issue and charged me $175 to update the PCM. They indicated the vehicle was corrected and sent me on my way. The OBDII codes at that time, prior to service, were P0218 and P1783.

Nine months later the vehicle displayed the same warning (Transmission Fault Error: Service Now) and I took the vehicle to a local shop instead of the dealer. The shop told me I had a pending code P0218 and a history p1783. They told me TSB 14-0125 addressed the issue and I told them I had already had Ford do the update. They had nothing else to say but take it back to the Ford Dealer. I didn't want to go back to the dealer because they failed to fix the issue.

I continued to drive the car without issue or warning until 5/22/21. I was an hour out of town driving at freeway speeds when the Transmission Fault error occurred. I rested the car for an hour then drove back slowly. The warning appeared 3 times on the return but vehicle operation did not change.

Thus far I have changed the automatic transmission fluid per the instructions in your videos but had the error appear once again after accelerating above 50 mph. I'd like to keep working on this myself but I'd like your guidance about how to proceed. I appreciate your help.

Thank you!

Forgot to mention this is a 1.6 L Ecoboost, front wheel drive. The battery is 2 months old. Oil was changed a month ago.

The codes listed are stored: P0741 and live data P1744, P0218. I just had the scanner on today, 5/24/21 to confirm.

Well I'd have the transmission is just going out those software updates I'm really Band-Aid patches to hide problems that exist in those transmissions it runs okay I personally would live with it because further updating isn't going to fix anything

Thanks Scotty!!!
