How to change VIN# in computer to match VIN# on car. DEQ here in Oregon won't let it go through as it is? Thanks for the help.
Can a dealer reprogram the car's computer VIN# to match the vehicles VIN#, when the VIN# was entered in the computer it has one letter that is different from the Car's Title VIN#

Is this a brand new car purchase from the dealer? If so, pressure them to fix the issue, and fast! Sometimes dealers don't give you the "time of day" after the purchase transaction has been completed. Annoy the heck out of them until they fix your issue & show you proof that they did!
Well, it's one thing if it's a new car, and there's an error. It's another if you're swapping the ECM (from the original to an ECM from a salvage yard). It's still another if the request is coming from a "chop shop."
Who has the hardware/software to do it? Dealers, perhaps. Perhaps some specialist shops, also. It's a good question, worthy of more research.
