How do I check the trans fluid on this car? Do I need to check it while running or off? Or does it matter.
What does your owner’s manual say? A lots of vehicles have this procedure detailed in the owner’s manual.

This is for the 2008 rogue but according to Nissan your car is the same.
Basically warm up vehicle and with it running check the fluid level . Make sure it's on a level surface. The hardest part is removing dip stick there is a small button/ latch you need to press with a small screwdriver. If the transmission fluid isn't at the proper temp you will have false reading so make sure its properly warmed up. The most accurate way is using a scan tool that can read cvt fluid temps.
