Hey I have a 1997 Maruti Suzuki Zen which has a carburetor and a manual choke, should I pump the accelerator and then pull the choke before stating the car in mornings?

With a manual choke, the way to start it is pull the choke out fully, give the accelerator pedal one pump, then turn the key without touching the gas. When the engine starts, push the choke in about 1/4 to 1/3 or until the engine runs smoothly without loping or stalling. If the outside air temp. is fairly warm, you may want to pull the choke out only 3/4 of the way to avoid overloading the engine with fuel.

how often should I use the choke on a car? Should I use it just during the first start of the day? It's actually the first time I have owned a carburetor vehicle so it's all new to me

Only when the engine and weather is cold or basically when you cannot turn on the engine without it.
