Hello everyone! I’ve got a 2015 Hyundai Sonata and from what I understand you have you have to remove the plastic under shield to change the oil and filter. That seems like a huge hassle to deal with every time I change the oil, can I just take off the under shield and throw it away or should I put it back on afterwards?
Make two holes (For the oil plug and filter) to make things easier for oil change.
Do you always drive on smooth tarmac? If not, reinstall it after your oil change.
It may help keep flying stones/debris, away from your oil pan.
I would put the shield back to protect the underside of the vehicle. Many cars are that way.
I would put it back. I've seen the carnage caused by loose debris on the highway. You really don't want it cracking or puncturing your oil pan and losing your oil because it's bye-bye engine. (this is just one example of what can happen)
I would take it off and put it somewhere in the garage. These were designed mostly to cut down on drag and get better gas mileage but the results are entirely debatable. I have a "skid plate" on the bottom of my transfer case but it's just in the way of an oil change.
