Hello, I was given a 2005 Mercedes c230 kompressor with 125k miles for Christmas and I was wondering what I should look out for or if I should try to sell it soon and buy a corolla or civic get a different car before it is too late.
As Scotty would say don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Those are endless money pits, but you got it for free. If you can get serious money for it then sell it. However if you can't then just drive it and when something major like the engine and transmission go then just scrap it instead of sinking money into it.
If you could get a good 4 5 grand for it like many people pay for here in California then get rid of it but if you can't get more than 500 bucks for it then just drive it and look out for it. If you get any serious money instead of a Corolla or Civic I would consider getting a Lexus.
Is this your only vehicle? It’s already high mileage and if it’s your only vehicle you don’t want it to break down and leave you stranded at an inopportune moment. If it’s going to be another vehicle in your fleet, then maybe you can drive around town and if it something happens you can just have it towed.
If it were me, I’d sell it and use whatever money towards a better car.
