how do I insert screen shots of codes

It the file size is less than 512 KB, you can upload here, otherwise, upload to a website and share the link here.

It has codes
P0300
P0171
P0174
Could this be caused by improperly gapped plugs not sure if the 2001 Chevy. 5.3 is .060 or .040 and dirty injectors ??? Looking for advice which direction to head down first before spending tons of money on parts I may not need

Here is everything you need to know about your codes.

P0300: Cylinder Misfire Detected Random Cylinders https://www.engine-codes.com/p0300_chevrolet.html

P0171: Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1 https://www.engine-codes.com/p0171_chevrolet.html

P0174: Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2 https://www.engine-codes.com/p0174_chevrolet.html

In short, your car is running too lean and is experiencing a cylinder misfire. I would start off by checking the ignition coils and fuel injectors. I would also check for any vacuum leaks.

Plugs were over gapped from 0.040 to 0.060 just got new ngk ones to change injectors are next to be gone through . Wondering if I should spend the few dollars to change the intake gaskets now or not ? And thank everyone for the input

You could but, I would hold off on that.

Trying to do the least amount b4 changing engine mine has 308387 miles on it now

I didn't know you had that many miles on it. I would change it now.

I don’t kno for fact the fuel pressure I’m supposed to have and just bought a gauge can’t find the info for fuel pressure

Check the Haynes manual for 1999-2006 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra or type in fuel pressure for 5.3 in 2001 Silverado.

Would overhauling be much cheaper than to try n change engine ?

In general, overhauling a motor is taking apart the entire motor. If the issues on that motor is that serious, I would get a remanufactured engine. The price is almost no difference.

Good site to purchase one at a reasonable cost ?

Buying engines for vehicle are never reasonable. For a vehicle like this, it will never be less than $500.
Here is one site. It says GMC Sierra but it's the same vehicle. https://www.powertrainproducts.net/GMC-Sierra-Engines-s/251.htm You could also try eBay or engines from a junk yard but that's a gamble.

  1. I had actually thought of pull apart close to where I live but would like to add a little more hp if I were to get one from junk yard or keep mine and upgrade a little bit in mine

I looked at many sites, autozone and even YouTube and everything I have pulled up says to pull injectors and check them and possible clean them or replace them
