I recently purchase this 2004 porsche cayenne used. It has 188000 miles on it. It has an automatic trasmission. I don't drive much. What sort of things do I need to look out for with this vehicle. What maintenance should I do right away besides a tuneup and oil change. Appears well kept.
First only hit the submit button once, It takes a moment to post the question. This way your not posting the same question multiple times. Now The main issue with these cars are
1. Thermostat housing leaks
2.fuel pumps aren't made well and fail often.
3 breaks and rotors don't last long especially if hard breaks
4. All steering and suspension components.
5. Tires wear quickly. The Cause is usually from steering and suspension components.
6. It's a German car so everything electrical. Especially when car is older.
Good thing is once those part are replaced with a good quality aftermarket it will usually last longer.
As far as maintenance goes a full tune up. Coils , wires, plugs air filter and oil change if it hasn't been done already. Also do coolant, break fluid , power steering differential oil and transmission fluid and filter. If you do transmission fluid use clean container and save old fluid. It's possible transmission can slip and run rough if it wasn't done in past. Also make sure you use the proper fluids in transmission and proper gear oil in diff.
If you want to know all information look inside your owners manual it will tell you everything you need to know. It will tell you how many years and what mileage they recommend. It will also tell you what parts and type of fluids that can be used.
