Topic starter

I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla 1.8 600000 miles automatic. I'm about to replace the catalytic converter for the second time how can I change the circumstances so I don't have to do this again? The car gets 33 miles to the gallon Burns very little oil. I think it runs too rich how do I fix that? I drive about 50,000 miles a year as a courier.

The title scared me, “… cat eating Corolla” 🙀

exactly I was scared for your cat's life

600k miles.....I would find a new vehicle. You got your money out of that thing.

In order to save your catalytic converter, you need to fix the oil burning issue by rebuilding the engine or swapping with a good engine.

you would really buy an engine for a 16 year old car?

If I want to keep the car running without spending a fortune for another Cat, yes.

new engine $5k, new cat $1k,
new car that isn't a 15 year rattle trap $6k

It has 600,000 miles?  At what mileage did you change the cat prior?

Call a Toyota dealer and see if they can buy this car from you. It with try. You never know what they say.
