I have a 2006 lexus is250 and the engine light comes on with the vcs warning when I plug in my code reader it comes up with the code p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold. I was wondering in your experience what is the most likely to be the problem the car has 49000 miles so i dont think the catalytic converter will be bad yet and i assume its most likely to be a sensor gone bad like the o2 but wanted to check before i start playing the parts lottery. Thanks

You need to find out what's causing the cat to code below efficiency, not the cat itself. You need a deep scan to look at fuel trims. and possible dirty air cleaner, MAF sensor, spark plugs, throttle body, egr valve, etc.
