Is it ever OK to spray the engine compartment down with water?

I have a 2022 Tacoma 3.5l 5k miles

Please address wether it’s ok to even lightly spray your engine compartment down with water to clean, I’m seeing more & more mobile auto detailers spraying down nearly new vehicles. I thought that was a definite no!
