Hi Scotty. Have questions about my ford fusion 2012 sel 4l automatic transmission. 190600 km. My vehicle shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear and there is slight shift  delay or hesitation from 2nd to 3rd gear, the RPM goes up to 3000 before shifting. I cleared the transmission adaptive table but the harsh shift is still there. So I went to the dealer got my PCM updated. After a week of driving I could notice the acceleration was better but the hard shift is still present from 1st to 2nd gear also the delay from 2nd to 3rd.

DTC code present are :

P1000-OBD Systems Readiness Test Not complete.

P1408 - EGR Flow Out Of Self Test Range.

P1780 - Transmission Control Switch (0/D Cancel) Circuit Out Of Self Test Range.( My car doesn't have O/D switch).

Should I go to a transmission repair shop?

Thanks

Unfortunately, that transmission is a real problem area for that car. You will get better service at a more reasonable price at a transmission shop vs. a dealer, but it won't be cheap anywhere.

Get a new EGR valve and change your trans fluid and filter.

My Escape was doing the same thing (same/similar transmission), it went away within 48 hours of getting the fluid changed.

Just make sure they don't overfill like they did mine.. 🙂

Check the condition of the fluid.

Replace the oil and filter.

It may need a firmware update / adaptation.

These usually help fix all of the 6F35’s issues.

if this won’t help, consider getting a used unit, or Ford official reman if available.

maybe consider going to a transmission shop but not one that’s seeing a Fusion of the first time, ans not one that’ll just install a rebuild kit as a fix for any concerns they hear - one that actually knows what’s going on and is willing to warranty their work

Should I get a transmission flush?

Check the transmission fluid,
If it’s not burned black - replace the transmission oil and filter first and see how it goes.
