Oddly similar to Scotty's ES300 w/60k miles that he got for $3000...

For CA I call this a deal what are your thoughts?

WOW - it looks good and low mileage as well.    Maybe it belonged to a prisoner in Folsom but he doesn't need it anymore...JUST KIDDING!

the only reason I am not jumping on these older lower mileage lexuses are that they are expensive to maintain I heard.

Well looking at carcomplaints.com I don't see a lot of complaints ....sure always a risk but the price is quite attractive considering this is not some beater by any means. Very clean interior I might say...

@Dion
absolutely!

@dion
my heart broke when I saw this: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Lexus/ES_300/
"The 1999 Lexus ES 300 has the most overall complaints, & we also rate 1999 as the worst model year ranked on several factors such as repair cost & average mileage when problems occur. The most-reported problem is also with the 1999 Lexus ES 300 for transmission failure."

Age issues ... why are you then thinking you found the deal of your life? Price and mileage?

and it happens on an average of 104k miles and this one has 90k miles.... sadness.....

@gt
This is California the one Scotty has with 150k miles would go for 8 grand seeing this for 3500 is an awesome deal here I would suggest looking at the California craigslist before thinking that...

On average of 104k miles costin $3700 to fix.

@G.T.

The deal with carcomplaints is that they rate the vehicles on complaints written by users who write them in, I don't consider some 4 complaints that the trans blew up before 75K to be absolute defintion of this car...unless they sold so few of them. I mean this is a upgrade Camry isn't it? Looking up 1999 Camry I see the ENGINE really has a PROBLEMO BIGTIME! it has some 35 complaints..but then again considering Camry sales far exceed any ES300 sales I am sure. I'm wondering if we are comparing the drivetrain correctly. Are they the same...Both 3.0 V6 ? I suppose so.

I felt similar when I saw an interesting car (e.g. Opel Insignia AWD) and realised what crap I encountered after some research.
