I Think the Honda Dealership Srcewed Us

We took our Honda Civic 2007 in a few months or less for an oil change. They are supposed to check all fluid levels, Yada, Yada. Something didn't seem right over the course of the days so, I checked the fluid levels. The power steering was way low. I went to Orielly's to get some Honda geared power steering fluid to test and that was the problem. Meanwhile we have had no leaks in our drivay. Since its not the Honda brand they tell u to use, I told mom to take it in to the dealership the next day and to tell them they never checked fluid level of the power steering fluid, what I had to do, and to flush out the power steering fluid and put the Honda brand in.

The guy mom spoke with said that was a hoax and she'll be fine with the one we filled it up with. About a month later we noticed large stains in our driveway and took the car in. The said they had to replace the whole steering rack. Over $1600.

I feel like we got burned and this was their fault. Low milage by the way. Used mostly around town for errands.

What do u say Scotty? Can we get our money back?

What should I do?

I would go to the manager of that dealer before doing anything else. You paid for something that the dealer did not do at all until you found out later. You could get your money back but the dealer will say something in return "we checked your fluid and everything looked normal so we decided not to touch at all".

I would not expect the dealer to do anything.

To be clear, however, I'm not stating they were not negligent in their work. But if they say it was fine when they checked it, you'd have to prove it wasn't AND that they ignored that fact. Virtually impossible to do.

I had a similar experience with a Toyota dealer that was supposedly maintaining my 2014 Tundra and the wife's 2015 Camry. Come to find out they didn't do half of what they claimed.

You really have to watch these places nowadays.
