I Wanna make my base Hyundai Veloster faster

Hey scotty just recently got a 2016 Hyundai Veloster base model(automatic btw) and wanted to know the best way to give it more HP without damaging the car to much, and alittle more noise wouldn’t hurt either. Any ideas?

The 1.6 GDi engine self destructs efficiently enough, there's no need to help it.

automatic

Most likely it's a DCT, an "EcoShift" and then you definitely do not want to change anything under the hood.

It's basicity a 2011 Hyundai Accent / 2009 Kia Soul - the 1.6L is what it is.

It is not a "race" car, and I do not recommend doing anything to it, there's no way to get "performance" out of it without shortening it's lifetime drastically.

In terms of getting more horsepower, a supercharger or turbocharger will do. For the noise, I would only do that if you want to get caught by the police.

Welcome new member.

Given that this is primarily a repair and maintenance forum, you can get great advice on long term reliability but you might not get many great suggestions for performance (you’d be better going to the veloster tuning forums).

The one thing I can think of to improve performance without sacrificing reliability would be lighter weight wheels and tires.  For engine mods, cheap easy changes (like cold air intake) give you negligible performance improvement.  If you really want gains, you have to invest significant $ like @kp is recommending; but then your long term reliability will likely be compromised.

Theres no free lunch.

Aim it at a junk yard. That will make it go faster. Every time I go to the junkyard there is a bunch of Hyundais all huddled together. There is some sort of attraction.
