Hey Scotty sorry but this is a long one.
When I purchased it the car ran fine, had a check engine light on my boss was the previous owner he said it's been on forever.
I had it checked out at AutoZone a young kid he told me it was the fuel pressure sending unit attached to the fuel pump I never did anything about it because it was on for years and there is no problem.
One day the car had a Miss in it so I change the plugs and wires then I change the fuel injectors and gaskets.
Then the problem started the truck would idle up and down was giving me codes of I believe po 196 and po 198 stuck on rich I've had four different mechanics look at it so here's what we did.
I'm not a mechanic myself and that this point now it's starting to throw all different codes I replace the EGR valve I replaced all four O2 sensors I replace the temperature sending sensor I replace the fuel rail sensor I had the catalytic converters holes drilled in them and blown out they were black but not solid.
When the engine is cold it seems to idle fine when it warms up it starts searching from 800 to 1000 rpms and used to do from 600 to 1500 RPMs.
When I'm driving at speeds over 20 30 miles an hour it seems to drive fine when I get below 20 the check engine light will Flash I'm at a loss Gotti what next please help me I'm a disabled senior citizen and after you seen Parts I put on with labor I can't keep throwing parts and a vehicle with 250,000 miles.
I'm not an idiot I just bought the car to drive for a minute and then sell it but with the stimulus checks in tax returns vehicles prices were increased so I decided to just put some money into this vehicle and this is what happened to me I can't believe it please help me thank you in advance love your videos
Thanks Scotty I appreciate your help I'll try the fuel pump and let you know have a great day
I'd have to be there in person analyze my scan tools and live data but it could easily be the fuel pump is starting to go out to the common problem with those pressure testing
Hey Scotty I haven't tried replacing the fuel fuel pump yet because of the cost but I did however replace the fuel filter and the truck seems to run pretty good about 90% of what it used to be so in order that we get to get it at 100% I threw on an idle air control something or other and now it's running just as bad as it did when I first started so I've since replace the mass air flow. Now it's throwing all kinds of different codes again like it did originally stuck on Bridge bank 1 and 2 running rich I noticed that the EGR tube has a kink in it could it possibly be causing the problem. ? I had replace the temperature control sensor because one mechanic said the engine wasn't getting hot enough.
I've just noticed however when temperature needle Rises up to almost the halfway mark it runs much better the needle is usually one third of the way up and I heard it was supposed to be halfway, could it possibly possibly be the thermostat ?
I forgot to mention I noticed the EGR tube has a kink in it I haven't noticed it before so I'm not sure what's going on with it
