I'm old as dirt (78), and I'm about to buy (cash) a used car, $15 grand or less. Fixing to (southern for about to) go on a long two week trip to Florida with a girlfriend. Need reliable, because i don't work on cars anymore (since everything is electronic now). don't want to sit beside the road. What do you recommend?

So it really comes down to your need now

Do you need a

Seaden

Crossover

Suv ?

If you want reliability tge best car to recommend are Toyota and Honda

So for Seaden

Toyota camry

Toyota avalon

Honda accord

Honda civic

Crossover and suv

Toyota ChR

Toyota rav4

Toyota highlander

Toyota venza

Honda hrv

But before buying the car make sure you get inspected by mechanic and road test it especially on highway before handing over the cash

At 78 do you really want to climb in and out of a sedan? I say go for a cuv or suv. Easier to get in and out of and you sit up a little bit higher.

why not just rent one? cost less than buying and no worries.

Tons of nice condition, low miles Lincoln Town Cars out there for around $6,000 to $8,000. These cars set the bar for road trip cars; many attempt to imitate, few succeed.

I agree also with another commenter. Just rent something really nice and special for two weeks; much cheaper and complete peace of mind on failure and repair costs because it's not your problem.
