We are in the market for a "new to us" car for my wife. Were looking at certified Lexus RX 350s, but they want way too much for them now. Looking at the Toyota Highlander which is essentially the same frame vehicle.
If we want a certified used Highlander (probably less than 5 years older), what years are best to look at?

You can check carcomplaints.com to get an idea of problem areas.
Be aware that "certified" is pretty much a meaningless racket, its primary purpose being to empty your wallet. There have been many reports of "certified" used vehicles that turned out to have serious defects. Your best insurance against winding up with a lemon is to have a thorough inspection done by a good mechanic before purchase.
