The daughter of an acquaintance, blow out the motor of a Toyota Matrix 2003 while driving without oil and her father was looking for a new motor.

He couldn't find one in the same state but found a motor of a Toyota Corola 2003.

He would like to know if he can install a Toyota Corola motor in a Matrix.

Is this possible or convenient to do?

I don't know if the computer will work properly for future servicing.

Thank you for your answer.

The Toyota Matrix was originally called the Toyota Corolla Matrix before they dropped the Corolla part. They share the same basic powertrain, since it's basically a Corolla with a hatchback. I don't see why changing engines from a same year Corolla would be an issue, as long as it's an identical motor. There may be an electronics and computer programming side of things that needs looked at ro ensure it's compatible. A mechanic should be able to reprogram the PCM to work with the replacement engine if needed.
