Looking at newer model F150. What years should I stay away from? Engine issues whatever?
Do not buy a 10 speed transmission (2018-present). The older models (2017-) from that are fine.
My cousin worked for Ford for over 10 years. He once advised me to stay away from the 2018 to 2020 V8 F150s as those engines had some problems. He wasn't a fan of the V6 engines either. I ended up buying a 2014 XLT Crew Cab with a V8 on his advice back in 2018....that engine is a hoss.
I'd imagine you'd be fine with whatever you choose, but make sure you test drive it well and rev it up some. I love F150s. Never had any issues, but I've always changed my own oil religiously.

For the current generation (started with model year 2015) go for the model years 2015-2017 with the 2nd generation 5.0L V8 and 6-speed automatic transmission. Whatever you do, avoid any F-150s for model year 2018 to the present with the 3rd generation 5.0L V8 (2021 model year also introduced cylinder deactivation), as well as any with Ecoboost engine or 10-speed AT (there was class action lawsuit against Ford for the 10-speed which had issues and jury is out on long term reliability of that AT.)
