Interior lighting for around the manual shifter

Hi,

At night in my '04 base model Pontiac Vibe the manual shifter area in the car is very dark.  Can anyone recommend some sort of lighting solution for that area?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Why would anyone need a light around a manual shifter?  Don't you already know where your gears are?

if it's me I would try to make the effort to memorize where the gears are because in my opinion that's more efficient

Get those cheap stick-on LEDs.

Personally, darker is better at night. It helps with night time visibility.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I saw some led strips on line but it looks like they are used mostly under the dash and under the seats. I may just try some glow in the dark tape since I just want it for that one area in the center where it's especially dark. I know where the gears are but I'm used to automatics where that center area has some light..

Red has the least effect on night vision. (In fact I used to have a flashlight with a red lens to use at night with a telescope.) Blue is worst.

Great. Thanks. That helps a lot!

So what you’re after is more of a backlight around the gear boot? Or did you mean mood lighting like a few fancy cars have, these days? My reply was more in line with mood lighting. If you’re after backlight, I don’t think it’s worth the effort.

I wouldn’t go LED strips. They’ll be too bright, no matter the colour. Something in the lines of this, stuck to the roof liner, facing down above the gearshift -
