Intermittent Service Engine alert

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2012 Suzuki Kizashi. It has been running well so far. Already got 100k miles.

for the last six months I have been getting service engine alert which goes automatically.

comes back again while driving totally unpredictably.

took it to multiple mechanics all suggested to ignore this alert, it may by just the sensor.

Alert stays for 2-3 days and goes automatically and comes back again in 2-3 days.
Sometimes when it comes while driving on the highway I feel like a thud from the engine but nothing really happens except that the alert is annoying as long as it is there.

since I travel a lot with family I am usually always worried to see this alert.

Looking forward to your advice in getting rid of this alert.

thanks

Roman Tessy

Run a diagnostic scan with an OBD reader.

Have they scanned it? Or are they guessing? As it seems mechanics in your area aren’t professional at all.

Anyways, your car is no ordinary Suzuki econobox - it’s quite a complex machine, get it scanned with a full systems scanner (if you can’t get your hands on one, a regular OBDII may work), it’s going to be quite interesting to see what fault is causing it to go off.

But as a rule of thumb, if the car’s computers have found a fault - you should check what the fault is and repair it.
