Is a 2002 Toyota Camry LE a reliable car?

257,000 mi a lot of millage! I am no mechanic but learned a few tips and tricks. Was wondering if I should purchase. seller  asking for $ 2,000 has some cometic damage and needs some repair is this a good investment please help!  Thanks!

No. First of all,this engine has issues (stripped head bolt). Second of all, it is a very old car with too many miles.

No.  As @yaser pointed out, the 2002-2005 Camrys have a stripped head bolt and consequently a blown head gasket problem unless it has been repaired with ARP studs and inserts.  Pull the valve cover off and see if the the head is attached with bolts or nuts.  If it has nuts, it has the stud kit installed and should be OK.  If it checks out, I'd offer them $1K and go from there, $1500 tops.

Pass it on. Those have the 2AZ-FE engine that is notorious for burning oil.
