Is a 2004 Mustang V8 Manual a good car?

I am looking to buy a 2004 Mustang V8 manual with 188,000 for $4,500.  Is this a good car in general?  It has the 4.6L V8.  That’s the one in the Crown Victoria’s, right?  It appears to be very well maintained and not abused.  I will have it looked at by a mechanic before purchase.  Please give me some opinions.  Thanks!

It's a 20 year old mustang nearing 200,000 miles.  It's got problems, the only question is, what?

You have to assume a V8 mustang was ridden hard, even if well maintained.  Sure, it could be a good car, but keep a reserve $$ in case you need it.

On the upside, a V8 pony car will always have an audience, especially as they become more rare.  It's never gonna be an expensive classic, but it might start appreciating a bit in a few years.

High miles and probably driven hard, but if it passes your and a competent mechanic's checks, it may be decent. It's a standard, so there won't be much in the way of transmission issues, providing it was maintained. My mom bought a 2003 V8 with a standard several years ago and it only had 35k miles on it. It was a military guy's garage honey and he passed unexpectedly. I think she paid $8,000 for hers, so that price is pretty high for that mileage.
