Is a 2015 Camry a good choice?

Hey Scotty,

I'm going later in the week to look at a 2015 Camry 2.5L with 111,600 miles. Aside from obviously having a mechanic check it out, is this a good year? They are asking $11,000 which is, I'm sure, overpriced but it's the cheapest I have found for the condition and mileage. I plan to bring a code reader and shop towel to check the tail pipe.

The vehicle I was driving before is disabled as first I hit a deer and then we were hit by a tornado which decided to try to break into the driver rear door with the top half of a small to medium pine tree. So now it leaks water pretty good when it rains.

You're awesome Scotty, thanks.

You can get an idea of failure trends here:

https://www.carcomplaints.com/Toyota/Camry/2015/

Also be aware that the car was built at the tail end of a time when Toyota had transmission shuddering issues due to faulty torque converters. In theory the years affected are 2012-2104 but there have been problems reported with some 2015 models as well, we even had a member here report having the problem in a 2015 Camry:

Have your mechanic pay particular attention to the transmission when evaluating the car.

For some reason, your browser is generating several duplicates when you submitted your post. (You accidentally posted this topic five times, some copies apparently after receiving an answer.)

Are you having network issues? If so, then please wait until you have a stable connection. If you are pressing the submit button more than once, please stop. Press it once, and wait for it to finish processing. (You will find that in most cases if you return to the topic list your post was processed immediately even if the site appeared unresponsive.)

Otherwise it creates more work for moderators to clean up, and eventually the system will automatically ban your from entering. Thank you.

@chucktobias Apologies, thanks for letting me know. My signal wasn't the greatest and the page kept basically saying it couldn't continue so I tried refreshing a few times. Next time I will refrain from refreshing. I never mean any ill will.

@drewklq It's no problem, just making you aware of it so you know what was going on. Like I said if you see a problem like that after hitting the red submission button, before trying again go back to the topic list to see if your post has actually been processed.
