Scotty, is the manheim dealer auction reliable? I wanted to buy my first car there and my dad knows a guy who owns a dealer.
I would personally stay away from auction cars. Maybe some can be OK, but not worth the risk for most of us.
I think dealers are okay, right? I just turned to auctions because of today's insane prices. I am turning 16 in two days and I wanted my first car.
I don’t trust dealer auction, they buy and flip them. If you plan to own for a while, I would be very cautious. Your money, your choice, but if it were me and for peace of mind I would stay away. Doesn’t matter if you have a friend who is a dealer - can’t trust anyone like Scotty says.
Would you go on and buy a car from a normal dealer or regular person and how much would you pay for an 09 is250 with 130k miles yourself?
I would only buy from dealer or individual if they let me test drive the vehicle and have my mechanic thoroughly check it out and give the OK. At auctions, you don’t have that luxury, so it’s a big gamble. As for price I would pay, that is not my forte and it depends on what the market in your area is asking (and getting) for similar year and mileage IS250’s - I can’t say. Yes, you will pay more than at an auction but you also get piece of mind. You may get lucky and it all works out at auction, but I advise against it. I imagine you will keep the vehicle for many years versus turning around and flipping it like dealers do.
I would probably flip it ngl...
auctions are imo cars that dealers don't want to sell
where do you think dealers get their cars sometimes?
