Hello, looking to learn more about the automatic transmissions that Honda has used that have been successful in the past few decades. My main question stems from the fact that I am looking at 2nd gen Honda CRVs and worry that the automatic transmissions that are all too common with the FWD and 4WD models may have issues like I have heard that the 7th gen civics and accords have had in the past.
Who would you recommend (on Youtube) for Honda specific repairs? Is their a popular channel where I can learn more about the history of Honda?
The best YouTube channel I’ve run into for in depth Honda/Acura related videos is Eric The Car Guy.
Scotty is more of a Toyota guy. All he owns is Toyota/Lexus. Eric The Car Guy is more of a Honda guy. All he owns are Honda/Acura.
Older Hondas do have a history of automatic transmission problems. A quick check is to go to the carcomplaints.com site and look for the model you're interested in. You'll quickly see if transmission problems are common, for example:
https://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2003/
https://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Odyssey/2003/
You can use that weed out the real baddies and then do more research into the specifics of those that pass the initial smell test.
