Hi Scotty, I recently got a 06 Lincoln Town Car W/129K miles. The paint is in immaculate shape. But there're a few rust spots (pictures are in this https://imgur.com/gallery/sqvRPfB ) I asked two individual person who does body work on Facebook Marketplace. One of them quoted me a minimum of a grand to fix. Another one quoted me 600-800bucks. I haven't asked any body shop yet. I really like the car, but it seems like everyone is trying to rip me off at this point. I live in Wisconsin where cars usually die from rust first. Is there a cheap way to prevent my existing rust from spreading? Thanks in advance!
The door is not a big deal. It's caused by the owner not keeping their car clean. Easy to fix. The real problem is those fenders. They're rusting from the inside, and it's a sign of things to come. The whole lower body is going rust from the inside out.
If it runs ok, then just drive it into the ground. Don't spend a dime. Save every penny for the next vehicle.
Thanks for the advice!
I wouldn't put money into it. The whole appeal of those cars is that they are cheap to buy. When you start going after rust, you can easily spend more than you paid for the car. As long as the frame is ok and the car is road worthy, I would just drive it as far as you can.
Thanks for the advice. Ima just gonna spray some LPS3 over it and call it the day.
Good plan.
