Just out of interest, a good first car?

I know you people recommended Corolla/Civic/Camry/Accord for first car but what do you think about a 2010 or so ES350/GS350? Just wondering how is a same generation Volvo S80 (engine: I6 non-turbo; transmission: Six speed auto Aisin)

For the same price of a Camry I can get a better quality ES.

Also are repair costs outragously expensive like Audi or BMW?

The 2010 Lexis ES/GS 350 were fine cars.  Just realize because it is a Lexus (luxury) you will pay more for parts than a comparable Toyota but nothing like the Germans though. And you can do some of the work yourself, if you are inclined.  The ES is FWD while the GS is RWD, but the ES is basically a Camry underneath.  Nothing wrong with getting an ES over a Camry.

As first cars we like to recommend the non-luxury versions due to cost of ownership:  it will be cheaper w.r.t. maintenance, repairs, insurance, even fuel, etc.

Just be sure whichever you choose to get an independent, honest mechanic to check out before you buy.

Great! What do you think about the Toyota Avalon?

Avalon’s are great, just as reliable. More roomy than the Camry. They are under appreciated, but since you ask you might as well also consider the Avalon too.

Repairs will run more than Toyota, but not as bad as BMW/Mercedes. You also shouldn't have too many repairs anyway if you get a good one that passes a mechanical inspection.

The Avalon is a very good car. Basically it is a fancy Camry. Good, reliable vehicles and good luxury for the price you pay. Plus it is a Toyota....parts are cheaper than a Lexus.

Thank you everyone for your responses and thanks Scotty for responding in your latest video.

Another question, he said that ES would be very expensive listing price compared to same miles and year of Camry and other than that they are excellent cars. He compared the price to less expensive than a brand new Camry.

But in my area thats not the case, they cost the exact same both 8-11 grand in California so since the price is the same what do you think?
