Both can be good cars, Civic will give harsher ride, high levels of road noise but it's easy to get 40-44 mpg highway w/conservative driving. Accord gives smoother ride, a lot less road noise, more passenger/cargo space but less mpg.

Routine or periodic maintenance costs on both would be about the same, both will need timing belt service around 100K.

Miles seems on the low-side of normal. Prices seem high, more than usual dealer sell prices, but don't go just by that.

The value of any car is what somebody will pay for it, and vary by private-party/dealer sales, region, and what's out there at any given time.

And then the all-important 3C (condition, condition, condition). Mechanic checkout HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

FYI: WE buy used vehicles at auction in lots of 5-10 per lot, and after processing we keep the best, then wholesale-out the rest to other dealers. In our business, we probably would have not retained the above mentioned vehicles.

Both ok cars, but avoid high dealership profits, try to buy from long time private owner not flipper.

Some of the 2.4 Accords had weak piston rings and started burning oil around 100k miles.
I'm thinking it was around that year, but may be way off. So check that, and ask if it was repaired under warranty.
Can't recall hearing about any issues with that year of Civic.
Both are overpriced (as with any dealer), so make a low offer if you choose one.
