Are you sure it's the oil pump making noise and not a serpentine belt pulley or accessory drive? Is the engine making any tapping or knocking noises?
Check the simple stuff first. Obviously make sure there's enough oil. Oil pressure problems should be verified with a mechanical gauge. (Sending unit or wiring may be bad.) Might be worth trying another oil filter.
Until you know what's going on do not run that engine other than very brief periods for testing or serious damage could occur.
Chuck I just got a new belt because of my water pump slinging off my old one and the belt was stretched but I don't have a way of testing that and no friends that would throw me a bone

Ouch, that's not good. Was just trying to think of other things it might be but if the engine is knocking that's pretty grim.

Yes. When the oil pump is making a loud noise like a whirring or a whine- it's about to go out. I would get that replaced now.
It sucks since IM BROKE and I just replaced my water pump Monday 🙁
