Hi Scotty,
- My name is Marta. I have a Nissan frontier xe 4wd with over 253000 miles. In the past month, I have spent $3000 in the following repairs: power steering pump, brakes, front axle,booth front wheel bearings. My mechanic sid that the rack and pinion are no good and need to replace it. It will cost $2400. At this moment and after the steering pump was repair, the steering takes a bit more power to do and when i turn the heater on, it makes a weird Boise. In your opinion, should I proceed with repair or start looking for a different car?

The reman steering rack for your car costs $236.79 at Rock Auto. Where is this "mechanic" getting a $2400 bid from, thin air? Like I said, I would go elsewhere.

What exactly did he repair? Did he give you an itemised bill for all the jobs carried out?
should I proceed with repair or start looking for a different car?
Time to start looking for a different mechanic, like @doc suggested.

You didn't say what year it was. I would find another mechanic to get another opinion.
