Hey all,
I have been looking for a cheap used car to get me around and I have a wrecking yard near me which sells used cars, for fairly cheap. I am looking at a 1999 toyota corolla manual with 191,000 miles on it, which looks fairly nice, doesnt appear to have rust(you never know until you go look) for $800. This isnt the only car I have considered looking at from this wrecking yard, but I dont know how the process is to get the title transfered to me. They say that they will give me a wrecking yard bill of sale and I have to go get a vin inspection, and I dont know if I get any kind of warranty if it appears that the car is stolen or if it is totaled. If anyone has experience with going through the process, or any advice, should I go look at this car and is it worth it?

I'd be thinking go on Craigslist and put the $ range 60-1500$. A lot of the 1500$ private party cars are really worth 800$ so just go drive it, check it out, an then put the 800$ on the back of the car after you talk a little with the guy selling. You can probably get lower miles than 191, and newer years than 99. my local CL has people selling Saturn Ions, and even civics with some issues, here's one I'd be all about if I was in market for a junker and a good example of what junk sellers are really thinking: https://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/d/lockport-2004-honda-civic-dx/7212776787.html Notice how he says "first offer over 500$ gets it" thats basically every car listed 1000-1500 if you go out at and are polite
Just depends on what kind of shape the vehicle is in a grandson recently bought a Miata for a thousand bucks from a junkyard and it's a really nice car just needed a little tune and up here and there so you never know
Just never pay much money for one
