I have a 2003 Ford sport trac xlt i got second hand with 218.000 miles on the odometer. I paid $2000 1 owner well taken care of. do you think its a reliable car in the long run?

Being 20 years old it has already done the long run and would be considered to have been long-term reliable even if it died tomorrow. Expecting to get many more years out of something that old, while possible, is a sporting proposition. Way too many variables to hazard a guess.

My guess is the transmission is probably going to go first whatever you do don't dump too much money into it
