I just bought this vehicle from the original owner who says he has only ever used ethanol-free gas in this car. Will there be harm done if I start using regular unleaded 87-octane gas?

No. Why would there be any harm done? The car was designed to be filled up with E10 from the factory. You will get slightly worse gas mileage, that's it.
