Hyundai is recommending those and i have been using Quaker 5w-30 full synthetic.
I can only find Quaker at Walmart. Today reps at Auto Zone and Advance said Quaker had sludge issue a few years back so they don't carry them.

What does the owner’s manual actually say? The brand of oil does not matter as long as it meets the specifications in the owner’s manual.

Sludge issue in which vehicles? Anyways, you don’t need to go with Quaker. There are other brands you can go with like Castrol (Scotty likes and uses that), Mobil-1, etc.
.
You should be changing engine oil (and filter) no more than every 5,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.
The owner's manual recommends 5w-30 and shows the Quaker oil symbol, too. I will change to Mobil1 or Castrol whichever is cheaper next time. Thank you. I was just trying to stick with Quaker.
The reps at Autozone and Advance said the oil was bad in the bottle.
Quaker said API SP, GF-6 ... I will go with Mobil1 or Castrol from Walmart to be safe
Not only is GF-6 oil safe... it is the highest spec oil you can get.
You completely misunderstood our advice: Brands don't matter. Specifications do.
They're just trying to get you to come buy their overpriced, expensive oil. Every oil these days has a minimum amount of detergent in them, in order to qualify for API certification. Dollar Store branded oil is API certified. Don't rush to AutoZone.
Na, I I'm not buying their expensive oil. I thought I needed 5 quarts, so I ended up 1 quart short. I drove to Autozone next to the house to see if I could get 1 quart of Quaker, and that is when the rep told me about the Quaker issue. Those guys don't carry Quaker. I ended up at Walmart, which I didn't want to because it is far and it was last in the evening. Now, I know that I need 6 quarts for the Hyundai V6.
Thank you for helping. I usually buy oil at Walmart but filter at Amazon or rockauto.

Not necessarily for newer cars...

My friend says they're API certified, he'skind of a cheapsake, lol. Just look for the API certification on the bottles. They have them.
Thank you. Quaker said API SP, GF-6.
I will go with Mobil1 or Castrol from Walmart to be safe. They are both good and there is a bunch at Walmart.
