- I’ve been looking to buy a used family SUV recently. I’ve been looking at Toyota and Hondas SUVs recently but they are a bit out of my budget. So, somebody told me to look at Ford Escapes from 2008-2012. I’ve been looking at them and I’ve realized that they are bit cheaper than the Hondas and Toyotas. So I just want to know if the Ford Escapes from 08-12 are reliable?
Are both of the engines a good choice 2.5L 4 cylinder and the 3.0L V6?
is it comfortable to drive and very spacious?
Are there any AC issues, Like the 8th gen civic issues with compressor and leaks?

When they were brand new, they were okay. My aunt bought a then brand-new 2010 Escape. She was a social worker and she drove for a living. She's retired now, and she still has that Escape.
The dealership maintains it, including transmission fluid. She lives in a small town, though.
15+ years into that vehicle's life on the other hand, pass. You don't know any of the vehicle's maintenance history.
