Is the 2010 Chevrolet Impala a good starting car?

I was wondering if this would be a good car in general

Scotty doesn’t like them, I have a 2008 with 190,000 miles.

Stick with the 3.5 L rather than the 3.6L.

Have the car scanned for codes, inquire about the maintenance, ie: oil, transmission, and coolant flushes. Also prepare yourself for bad vent valve under the tank, etc.

Not especially. Gm got rid of the so-so 3.8L V6 and replaced it with the much better 3.5L (3.9 in some models), but kept that junk 4T65 4-speed transmission.

Full-sized car, doesn't lend itself to urban environments well.

I like the design, interiors can be nice, especially the leather. Highway and road noise is comfortable and quiet, fuel mileage is around 22 average. Handling is OK but spongy in mountain curves. With horsepower at 207 (3.5L) not a drag racer, but overall can be a good general-purpose, semi-luxury car.

Except for that bloody transmission ...
