Is the BMW Z4 as reliable as the Supra?

The Toyota Supra and BMW Z4 were developed in collaboration, and while Toyota is well-known for its reliability, what is your opinion on the BMW Z4? Given this partnership, is it possible that this BMW stands out as an exception in terms of reliability among the brand's other models? Would you consider buying it? I would greatly appreciate your insight 🙂

They are the same car, if you're talking about the new ones. The Toyota is just badge-engineered. The They're both made by BMW. Paying people to work on one will cost you a fortune. BMW specializes in 2-door sports cars and executive cars. There's a very limited market for 2-door, sports cars. They aren't the "in", anymore. It doesn’t make financial sense anymore, engineers must spend tens of millions of dollars on a platform that very few people will end up buying.

The Supra and the Z4 are basically the same car underneath from my POV. Sure, Toyota had an influence, and anecdotal evidence suggest that the engine the B58 engine is the most reliable modern BMW engine created because of that influence. But not as reliable or resilient as a pure Toyota designed engine.

At the same time, it is still a BMW, and those things are expensive to maintain. While it may be more reliable so to speak, the maintenance is expensive of those puppies.

Would I consider buying a Z4 or a BMW?

If I had extra cash, for a toy, maybe I would. But like Scotty, I’m cheap  (but not as cheap as Scotty).

Assuming I would buy a BMW, the 2 series with the B58 or S58 engine and manual transmission would be my first choice. It seems to give you a pretty good bang for your buck in terms of performance, for a BMW. It’s not as sexy as a Z4. While the Z4 is nice, it is a more expensive car.
